This position possesses 3 players in the top 100 Perfect Game. It has a mix of starters and relievers.
Parker Ford, 6-3 210, Lufkin, TX, Lufkin HS
He is graded at 10 by PG which means he is an elite player. Ranked #60 in the country regardless of position by PG. Once he visited it was all over, he loved our program. He is the 13th best player in Texas and #5 RHP in Texas by PG. Fastball up to 94. He is a big power arm. Parker had numerous other offers but chose Ms State. Summer team is Texas Sun Devils.
Austin Riley, 6-3 230, Hernando, MS, DeSoto Central HS
He is graded at 10 by PG which means he is an elite player. Ranked #63 in the country regardless of position by PG. He is the consensus #1 player in the state of MS. Played in the Under Armour AA game at Wrigley Field this past summer. He can also flat out smash the ball and plays a mean 3B. To me, he is another Pete Young from the late 1980's. He will play 3B and hit, then get on the mound and bring heat. He is so good at either position, PG says the scouts are split as to what position he is best at. I would play him just like we did Pete, 3B and then closer. Summer team is Dulin Dodgers.
Gray Fenter, 6-0 190, West Memphis, AR, West Memphis HS
He is graded at 10 by PG which means he is an elite player. Ranked #69 in the country regardless of position by PG. He is the #1 player in the state of Arkansas for 2015 per PG. Velocity is in the mid-90's. He also played at Wrigley Field this past summer. He was on the 18U USA National Team, 1 of only 20 players selected. He committed late in the recruiting game and we are glad he did. He is a game changer. Summer team is Dulin Dodgers.
Keegan James, 6-3 210, Southaven, MS, DeSoto Central HS
He is a graded at 9.5 by PG. He is ranked by PG as the #6 player in the state of MS and the #3 RHP in the state. Fastball is in the upper 80's. He might have a chance to play in the field in college, he is a pretty good hitter. Summer team is Dulin Dodgers.
Noah Hughes, 6-2 175, Ridgeland, MS, Jackson Preparatory School
He is ranked by PG as the #11 player in the state of MS and the #4 RHP in the state. He went 11-1 with an ERA of 1.21 and struck out 101 batters his junior season. Summer team is Team Georgia.
Ryan Cyr, 6-3 200, Leawood, KS, Blue Valley HS
He is ranked #8 player in the state of Kansas and the #5 RHP in the state. His team won the state championship last year. He is another player that when he visited fell in love with the campus and the city. Summer team is MNS Red Sox.
The impressive stat about this group is height. Five of the 6 players are 6-2 or taller. Fenter is 6-0 but he is tough as nails. He is a bulldog on the mound. Ford, Riley and Fenter can bring the heat into the mid-90's. A good mixture of potential front line starters and back end closers.
