Well, I have been real encouraged by what the pitchers have done. We have no shortage of starters. It appears senior Trevor Fitts and sophomore Vance Tatum will excel at the closing role.
Junior Preston Brown and senior Lucas Laster have been tremendous as starters. They continue to build their endurance. Sophomore Austin Sexton and freshman Jesse McCord struggled their first time out. This Sunday is big for them. So encouraging is sophomore Dakota Hudson with his new delivery. He has pitched twice in relief. Sexton, McCord and Hudson appear to be in the lead for the third weekend spot.
Two true freshman appear to be ready to contribute. Cole Gordon and
Paxton Stover have done well so far.
And we haven't even talked about steady senior Ross Mitchell!
The key is this. Starters pitch into the 6th or later innings. If we have them consistently reach this mark, we will have plenty of pitching.
Every year, a pitcher who barely pitches early in the season, seems to come on late and gives us a boost. Who will this year?
