Several pitchers still competing for starting rotation. Those who've stood out are: So. Austin Sexton, So. Vance Tatum, So. Daniel Brown, Jr. Preston Brown. So. Dakota Hudson-injury and Sr. Lucas Laster-sick are just starting to throw. Hudson is a big time talent while Laster started some in 2014 and did great. These 6 guys will IMO make up the 3 starters and the mid-week starter we need.
The bullpen is still taking shape. Sr. Trevor Fitts is in the lead for the closer.
The hitting is leaps ahead of 2014 because of great talent. Sophomores Gavin Collins, catcher and Reid Humphreys, left fielder/DH are hitting doubles and HRs. Newcomers Jr. John Holland, shortstop and So. Luke Reynolds, third baseman, each have shown their prowess at the dish.
Sr. Wes Rea, first baseman and So.RS Jacob Robson, center fielder, have improved at the plate. Big Wes rarely strikes out now and Robson shows why he was highly recruited, he gets hits and steal bases.
I am really liking this team. It is deep in pitching and guys coming off the bench to pinch hit in critical situations. Fall ball has I think 14 more games so we are a long way from over. Stay tuned as I break it down. And BTW, signing day is Nov. 12th. We have 18 HS players committed and we rank 4th in the nation according to Perfect Game. Excellent class coming in August of 2015.
